Alena & Pierre – Georges Heights – Gunner’s Barracks

Alena & Pierre’s story is like something out of a romance novel: they met & fell in love in Paris while Alena was working at her father’s cafe! In many ways their wedding at the Gunners Barracks completed the fairy tale with a beautiful memorable day. After preparation photos at a stunning Bayview house I headed to the Gunners Barracks. The ceremony was held up at Georges Heights and the views from here over Sydney Harbour are amazing. The ceremony was filled with laughter and spoken in both English and French. We took photos around Georges Heights and the Barracks before the reception. The Barracks always looks amazing but I loved the very personal (often French) elements that Alena & Pierre included in the room Read more…

Katie & Jerome were married at St Mary’s Immaculate in Manly – right next door to the studio! It’s a lovely church and the ceremony went very well. Outside it had started to rain so we did a group shot in the church but had a clear patch for family photos and some with Katie & Jerome. We headed to Mona Vale Beach for location photos but upon arrival the wind and rain didnt look good. Much to their credit the bridal party braved the elements and it was a lot of fun trying to shoot with my camera in one hand and an umbrella in the other! The photos turned out well and the cloud does add a lot of atmosphere to the look. The reception was at Moby’s right on Whale Beach. It’s a great spot, right on the beach and spacious inside, and the tables looked fantastic. Read more…

Olivia & Louis – St Andrew’s Manly – Curl Curl – Le Kiosk Shelly Beach

Olivia & Louis’ wedding was one of my last for 2009 and it was all very local for me – Olivia’s preparations were in Curl Curl, the ceremony literally just up the hill at St Andrew’s in Manly….. and the reception at Le Kiosk at Shelly Beach! St Andrew’s Presbyterian is a lovely church built in the late 1800’s and constructed from local white sandstone. I have been to quite a few weddings here and I just love the place. The minister Derek is such a great guy and he makes the whole wedding ceremony very relaxed. After the ceremony at St Andrew’s we went to North Curl Curl for photos – we got some fantastic shots! It was then on to Le Kiosk at Shelly Beach for the reception. Shelly Beach is such a great spot so having a wedding reception right there is very cool – it makes Read more…

Gwen & Terry were married at the Tarpeian Precinct in the Botanic Gardens. It’s a fantastic location right next to the Opera House with views over the harbour and it has a large fig tree for shade on a hot day. The ceremony went very well – I’ve never seen a veil come off with the first kiss! The the shower of petals as they walked down the aisle looks awesome! We did a few photos with Gwen & Terry at the Botanic Gardens and then headed to Hyde Park and also the Rocks before ending up back at the Opera House and the reception at Opera Point Marquee. It’s an iconic location that simply can’t be beaten for views of the Harbour and the Bridge, and it was a lovely evening to just relax outside and take in the sights before a great night ahead. The reception was fantastic Read more…

Nicky & Simon had a scorcher of a wedding day with the temperature hitting 40 in Castle Hill! Phew. The ceremony was held at the Oakhill College Chapel and it is a very beautiful place with a colourful interior. We headed away to Centennial Park for some photos with the bridal party before a short stop at Argyle Street and then photos under the Harbour Bridge. The reception was at the MCA – the Museum of Contemporary Art right in Circular Quay. Wow! What an amazing view from the Harbour Terrace – I was blown away and it really was an exceptional place to watch the sun slowly setting on the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The reception went very well – there were some great speeches and even a sweep on how long the speeches would run for – a young man picked the nearest time and made a Read more…

Tabitha & Matt – St Ignatius Riverview – Clontarf Beach – Orso

January has been hot! Phew. Tabitha & Matt had a 40+ day complete with a change that bought cool winds and rain in the afternoon. I did preparation photos at Tabitha’s place and Sarah covered Matt’s preparations before heading to the ceremony at the school chapel of St Ignatius’ College, Riverview. It’s a beautiful place and blessedly the chapel had air-conditioning. The ceremony was lovely and ended with some beautiful singing by a friend of Tabitha & Matt’s. We did a range of shots with the bridal party at Riverview just before the front hit. We then headed to Curl Curl and Freshwater but it was rather windy and we had to pause for a rain break at Freshwater. We decided to do a quick stop at Clontarf Beach and the shots looked fantastic with the wind tearing across the sand. The wedding reception was at Orso on the Spit Read more…
